Miami Urban Area Security Initiative
The Miami Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) program was established by
the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) "to build a sustainable and
measurable increase in the capability of key urban areas to prevent, deter,
and respond to terrorist attacks within the U.S."
The Miami Urban Area now works in conjunction with the Fort Lauderdale Urban
Area as the Southeast Florida Urban Area Security Initiative (SFUASI)
The SFUASI, together with the Southeast Regional Domestic Security
Task Force, supports planning, training and exercises over the four county
Southeast Florida region.
